Here's a rainbow at sunset!Spring and summer are the most popular times to visit the area, and it's no surprise. The threat of snow is gone by mid April and although you may have some cloudy days or fog and rain, there are still plenty of bright sunny days too. Streams and waterfalls are running fast and full. Days are warm, but nights can still be quite cool. It's wonderfully refreshing to wake up to the sunrise and clean mountain air drifting through your bedroom.
As you enjoy your breakfast, you can sit comfortably in the dining room or on the decks, soak up the morning sun and witness the changing forest flora and fauna all around you. Then its off to explore the many breathtaking views that await you in and around Yosemite. You'll want to make your reservations early for visits during these seasons!
Usually by the Memorial Day weekend, the rain is gone and doesn't return until fall. The humidity drops, the forest dries out, and just about every day is bright and sunny. Mountain homes like ours rarely have air conditioning and they don't usually need it. But during the warmest months it can be a good idea to pull down the sun shades and open up the windows early to encourage cross-ventilation. By noon the sun is high enough that you no longer need the shades.
Spring and summer features of our property include:
- Terrific views of the changing seasons, even from your dining, living and bedrooms
- National Forest lands directly behind the house for hiking, biking, or just quiet walks along the old stagecoach road
- Fishing at Bass Lake or nearby Big Creek
- The hot tub feels great even during the summer!
- Our private picnic area is great for enjoying that "camping" experience without the hassle of tents and pit toilets. Of course, if you really want to pitch a tent here, that's ok too...
- You might even build a small campfire to sing songs, tell stories, and roast marshmallows around (fire danger conditions permitting - please ask first)!
